Born in Georgia.,1845. Private, July 1, 1863 (18 years old) 62nd Georgia Infantry Cavalry. Due to attrition this unit was merged with other units to become the 8th Georgia Cavalry on July 11, 1864. Engagements: New Bern Campagin 1864,Windsor, 1864; Peebles Farm 1864; Jones Farm 1864; Harman Road 1864; Petersburg Seige, 1864-65; Appamattox Campaign, March, April 1865. Records show at end of war he was on detached duty to secure remount. Surrendered at Montezuma, Georgia on April 18, 1865. Died in Dooly County on October 28, 1916. Benfactor of Shiloh Methodist, where he is buried. There is a monument erected there in his honor. “An Honest Man is the Nobelest Work of God”.
