Born July 14, 1838 Jones County, Georgia. Married Cynthia Mary Porter on Jan 31, 1862, Dooly Co. Enlisted Confederate States Army May 3, 1862 at Pine Hill,
Dooly County, Ga. for 3 years. Served in Eastern Tennessee, and Kentucky, captured at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee on September 9, 1863.  Transferred to Louisville, Ky., then transferred to Camp Douglas, Illinois on September 24, 1863. Discharged  from service on June 14, 1865.
Private, Company C, 55th Georgia Regiment, CSA. There is a receipt for his pay for the period of May 16, 1862 To September 1, 1862 (3 months 15 days)  at $11.00 per Month for $38.50.
This document bears his signature, G. H. Draughon.  The family story is that after being released as a Prisoner of War from the infamous Camp Douglas, he had to get home the best way he could, mostly walk.  Word
Traveled ahead of those returning, and his wife, Cynthia heard he was about two days out from home, so she hitched up the buggy to go and meet him, with their daughter,
Georgia Ann Henrietta Draughon, who was born on December 14, 1862.  When they met up, Cynthia jumped off the buggy and was hugging and kissing  her long absent
Husband.  The daughter, who never seen her dad, nor had never seen her mother touch another man, started screaming, and hitting on her dad, until she understood.   He died April
1, 1910 and is buried in the Porter/Seago Cemetry near Vienna, in Dooly County
